Roy is a doctoral student in the Department of Middle Eastern Studies and Political Sciences at the  University of Ariel; He has Graduated with a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Middle Eastern studies from the University of Haifa. His Ph.D. dissertation deals with Iran’s soft power in the Gulf states.

Roy is a lecturer and consultant on Iranian affairs for many years and owns a company engaged in teaching and research on Middle Eastern issues with a special emphasis on Iran. Roy is fluent in Arabic and Persian and in the last year he got involved in the war effort when he served in the Iranian desk in one of the intelligence units. Roy authored the book “Iran and the Persian Gulf” (Resling, 2012 in Hebrew) and is behind a long series of academic and media publications, interviews in the written and broadcast media under his field of expertise. Roy served as a research fellow at the Alma Center, the Ezri Center for Iran and the Persian Gulf research center and more. Roy’s main areas of specialization are the modern history of Iran, its foreign policy, Shia Islam, terrorism and more.
