Dr. Meir Markovits holds a Ph.D. degree from the Nuclear Physics Department of the Weizmann Institute of Science, Rehovot, Israel and M.Sc. and B.Sc degrees in Physics from the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology. In his last full time position he served (2011-2017) as Head of the Nuclear Licensing and Safety Office and Deputy Director General at the IAEC and now he continues his professional involvement as Research Fellow at MPS and consultant at several Hi-Tech companies and organizations. During his more than forty years professional career, Dr. Markovits held senior R&D and management positions at several national institutes and high-tec industries in Israel and two years at Maxwell Laboratories in San Diego, USA. He also was appointed for two consecutive terms as the representative of Israel at the International Atomic Energy Agency – the IAEA in Vienna – Commission of Safety Standards.
